Learn the Essentials to Designing the Perfect Kids Room with this segment from Great Day Washington

Great Day Washington co-host Markette introduced this segment perfectly by exclaiming that, ‘children’s rooms can be more than just a place for bedtime, they can also serve as study havens and playrooms.’  Belfort’s style and design expert Matt Huber visited the set to tell more about how to put together a great kids bedroom. As families are getting back into the routine of back to school, the essential elements you’ll want to keep in mind are sleep space, study space, and storage space! Often, kids rooms are the smaller rooms in your home and these three essentials will help you design a great space – just remember, sleep, study, store.

For homework, this desk from DwellStudio is a great option and is brand new to our Belfort Furniture Showroom.  With a stylish hutch, there’s also storage space! This desk built with a mid-century modern design features a simple white finish, so it’s versatile for boys or girls rooms. Markette also pointed out the functional built-in outlets for plugging in a desk lamp or charging laptops, tablets, or cell phones and keeping them easily within reach.

What about storage? Matt explains that the more height you can take advantage of, the more storage you can bring to the room! With the Inspirations Dreamer Chest you can see the multifunctional options that are available. Ellie’s props looked perfect hanging on the hooks, and the images posted on the memo board are like a Facebook wall before you have Facebook!

Kids rooms are filled with furniture that also functions! The nightstand that Matt brought to the studio includes a corkboard back – plus, we loved seeing Mason’s athletic photos featured in the photo frames.  This Griffin Nightstand also includes cord management so it’s easy to plug-in and charge-up.

We can’t forget about those fun pieces to add to every kid’s room like this football chair and ottoman. We have a variety of sports chairs available but the football option seemed to be fitting for this time of year.
