The ‘Big Blizzard of 2013’ may have not been so big for those in areas of downtown Washington DC, Arlington, and other surrounding counties but for counties west of the city we saw some exciting snowfall totals. Whether you called it Snowquester or Winter Storm Saturn we were all excited for a snow storm in the Metropolitan DC area (it’s been two long years without significant snow) – and at Belfort Furniture we got snow!

Design Tips from the Huntington House Fabric Seminar

Belfort Furniture was proud to offer a Design and Fabric Seminar hosted by two representatives from Huntington House on February 16th. Whether you were able to attend or were bummed to have missed it, we have a complete list of tips and advice we learned from our wonderful guests. Overall, we are seeing happier fabrics and brighter colors. Huntington House strives to provide a fabric assortment that includes as many domestically sourced fabrics as possible – but when they do obtain fabrics elsewhere they pull from the best regions of the world – India, Brussels, and Thailand, just to name a few!

George Washington and the Cherry Tree inspires Solid Cherry Wood Furniture

As we’re still celebrating the week of President’s Day we’re also ready to celebrate George Washington’s birthday tomorrow, February 22nd - and the first thing that comes to mind is that famous Cherry Tree! The story cites that as a child Washington cut down his father’s cherry tree and admitted to his wrong-doing by saying “I can’t tell a lie, Pa.” Whether the story is true or not, we like to believe it’s a great moral lesson to teach children and one that inspires us to find some great cherry wood around our showroom!
